Succeeding In Power Electronics - Stories From The Trenches
This meeting features short presentations from several people
with a wide range of experience in power electronics and
related fields. Each will speak for 10-12 minutes about what
has worked - and not worked - for them in their professional
careers. After each of the panelists has spoken, we will
open the meeting to questions from the floor.
For students, this is a great opportunity to learn about life in the world of work, pick up some pointers for professional success, and ask questions you have about succeeding in power electronics and electrical engineering in general.
For those with experience, this is also a great opportunity to pick up some tips or pointers that can help move your career along.
The meeiting will be in the Discovery Learning Center and we will start the meeting at 6:30 with pizza and soft drinks and give folks time to socialize and settle in. The talks by the panel members will start at 7:00 pm.
Directions and information on free parking will be available on the Denver PELS Chapter Web page late next week (www.denverpels.org).
If you are planning to attend, or even think that you might, please let us know by responding to this message or sending an email to rsvp@denverpels.org. If you don't get around to RSVP'ing, please attend any way.
Also, we welcome any interested person at our meetings so please forward this message to anyone you think might be interested. You do not have to be a member of the Power Electronics Society or the IEEE to attend.
Cheers,
Bob White

IEEE Colorado Symposium On Electronics For Sustainable Energy
Due to Colorado's rising prominence in the renewable energy research and industry, the Denver chapter of the IEEE Power Electronics Society is holding a symposium on renewable energy and are looking for presenters. Presenters only need to submit a Power Point presentation about electronics or power electronics. The symposium is on Saturday, May 17th at the Boulder Marriott but presentation submissions are due by Friday, March 28th.

CU IEEE Sponsored E-Days Event - RC Showdown
CU IEEE will be sponsoring an E-Days event this year: The RC Showdown!
The event is as follows:
Come test your driving skills against your fellow engineers. One Remote Controlled Car kit will be given one team from each engineering discipline. The teams will then build the kits into a functioning remote-control car kit. During E-days, the teams from each discipline will race to determine which engineering discipline is indeed the best (although we don't anticipate anyone beating the EE's). :)
The kits are first come first serve, we will have up to 5 kits, and only one team from major can compete. E-mail your team submissions as soon as possible to Brandon Gilles at Brandon.Gilles@colorado.edu.

IEEE Peer Resume Critiques this Friday!
IEEE will be hosting a resume peer-review session this Friday, October 5th, at 4PM in ECEE 1B28 especially for EE and ECE students who would like to gain or give insight into the not-always-enjoyable art of resume writing.
